This Thanksgiving, our residential home known as “350” was filled with family. The House Manager’s Mom, Stephanie Curry, cooked turkey, stuffing, ham, collard greens, potato salad and sweet potato pie.

House Manager, Charkera Stennett made corn bread and brought a no-sugar- added pie.  Direct support staff helped too, with Marie making the black rice and Keiva, the candied yams. With gospel music playing in the background, all the residents enjoyed this day along with family, staff and children on hand.

There were games played, and laughter in the home. At 5:30 dinner was ready. Everyone held hands in a circle for prayer to bless the food. All around the table shared something they are thankful for. Sheila and Ben then left with family members.

Everyone shared heartfelt things. Charkera tells us, “Sam said he is thankful that everyone came tonight and cooked.”  Sam ate all his food and said it was so good, especially his piece of sugar-free apple pie! Barbara ate all her food as well. Boy did she enjoy the sweet potato pie! Barbara was awake the WHOLE day. She smiled in pictures, sang to songs and bopped her head to music.

After dessert, all had a small cup of apple cider and shared a toast to wonderful Thanksgiving!
