For over 19 years, the staff at CP Nassau mobilizes in the early Fall and comes up with a creative way to raise funds to make Thanksgiving nice for families in need. Our social work team identifies these people, and they can come from our programs and our staff. It is truly a time where we see our staff at their finest – they are great every day but the love, care and collaborative spirit that is put into this effort is especially heartwarming!
Week after week, there were bake sales, hot breakfasts available one morning, homemade chili in many varieties, homemade soup, a feast of chicken wings and all the sides, pizza, Philly pretzels and opportunities to win baskets that included yoga essentials, lottery tickets, candy and sweets, pasta and sauces, Islander tickets and more! There were chances to win cash too – always a good draw!!!
The numbers are not in yet, will report soon, but definitely thousands raised to help lots of people. Thank you to all who helped raise the funds and thank you to all who donated the funds! Special thanks to Pauline Doherty for her hard work coordinating and promoting this to make it so successful!
There is much to be thankful for!
