Individuals with Disabilities Get Their First Vaccine at CP Nassau

What an amazing 4 days, March 9-12 was at CP Nassau! 157 vaccines were administered to people with disabilities affiliated with our programs, some direct support professionals participated too! Families were thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to bring their loved one to a familiar place to receive the vaccine from nurses they knew from their programs.  The nursing staff was so happy to be able to provide this service and said it was so wonderful to see the faces of individuals that have missed seeing due to the Pandemic.  One nurse commented that even with masks on, she could just tell that there were many smiles in the room.

Everyone was enthusiastic and optimistic that this effort will put us all on a good path forward! We are thankful for the volunteer help from the 501st Legion: Empire City Garrison! As people entered the hall on way to vaccination area, they were greeted by a Star Wars Storm Trooper who enthusiastically directed them to the designated area.

Thank you to all who worked and those who were vaccinated! Every role is important and will add to a happier, healthier world!

The individuals who received their first vaccine will return the week of March 28 to receive their second.
