CP Nassau Staff Hosts Annual “Turkey and Trimmings” Campaign to Provide Meals at Thanksgiving

Blog, Community, In the News

For about 25 years now, we have an annual tradition here at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau called “Turkey and Trimmings.” It is a campaign to raise funds to provide Thanksgiving meals for families and people in need. Each department here (about 20) comes up with a creative way to raise funds and then puts it all together. It is fellow staff that support all the different fundraisers. Here are some examples:

The Physical Therapy department – homemade chili sale, bunch of varieties with cornbread and toppings.

The Nursing department – A pie and coffee sale.  Great variety of pies and coffee including cold
brew and hot.

The Speech Therapy Department – a pasta lunch sale with many choices of pasta and sauces all made by the therapists.

Social Work department – a raffle to win a lottery tree with $99 worth of scratch off tickets.

The Residential department – bake sale with all sorts of yummy homemade goodies – cookies, cupcakes, pie and cake with live singing as you shop by a residential Manager!

HR dept – collecting used sneakers that a company called “gotsneakers” pays money for.

Development – has an ebay store with all proceeds from the month of November going to the cause and a raffle for Islander tickets.

Adult Day Services – Good Burger – grilled burgers for lunch cooked by staff of the Adult Day Services department.

Oceanside Day Hab – a huge baskets filled with items to make you holiday table beautiful.

Quality Assurance team hosted a pizza lunch.

Popular raffles by the Occupational Therapy Department, Administration, Life Options, Accounting, and Children’s Learning Center brought in lots of fun and thrilled winners!

All the efforts of every department resulted in raising enough money to provide gift cards to 160 families!             What a beautiful display of caring and kindness by the amazing staff at CP Nassau!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
